Topic content

RESEARCH:

In preparation, we will use questionnaires and focus groups to gain the information to fuel research into the target audience of the documentary, and the topic content of the documentary. We will discovery more about each of the stereotypes. (Goth, Hipster, Chav, Popular, Geek and Rocker).
For each stereotype we will use our focus group to discover what people think about the clothing and appearance of each stereotype. Also, we will give out quiz's that will be crafted from our research to revels what peoples stereotypical social group would be, and whether there is truth behind it.

To discover the media's influence on the labels linked to these stereotypes, we will look up newspaper articles and stories linked to the impact and the result from these harsh stereotypical labels

DOCUMENTARY:

The aim of the documentary "Social Stereotypes" looks into the labels society has given for the image of individual and the effects of these labels. The documentary will explore the concepts of these labels and the representations and the appearance we associate with this. By interviewing students from Solihull Sixth Form College and teachers will allow our documentary to see the opinion of students who are given these labels judged by their appearance, then by teachers who see many students in there lives and can give an insight as to whether some of these stereotypes attached to these social labels are true.

The documentary will show the transformation of a student to the different social groups, dressing accordingly by following the stereotypical clothing and image that the labels connotes.

We will select movie clips that help aid our argument in the representation of stereotypes, in the negative ways they are portrayed in movies. We want to highlight the use of mise-en-scene in movies and the specific choices they make in costume, make up and even the way they speak to display what social group they belong to.
