Formal Proposal:

In this documentary, we will be answering the question “How do appearances affect stereotypes of social grouping” Throughout, we will be exploring the influences and connotations of certain appearances and the effect they have on stereotyping. We will explore social groups that are associated with these stereotypical appearances and explore the effect on society and student life. We will show this through the use of both vox pop and expert interviews in order to get a personal opinion that are target audience will be able to connect and relate to. The use of the expert interview will enable a professional opinion to shine light on the issues.

The target audience for our documentary will be aimed at students and teenagers. This age range is between 13 and 25. Also, the documentary will accommodate both males and females.

Our initial ideas for this documentary are to capture and represent the stereotypical views on appearances and there links to social groups.  We want to discover where these stereotypes originate from and whether there is any truth behind them.
