Focus group

Although these images are unclear (as the participants were camera shy) they show four students discussing the ideas put before them by us about the stereotypes of younger people. During the focus group I spoke with the students about their feelings surrounding the ways in which young people are stereotyped and how it affects them. The main subjects that came up were; older generations negatively stereotyping young people because of the media and the stereotypes which young people put on themselves (goths, chavs and nerds...) in order to feel as though they fit in.
These subjects helped us to choose the topic of our documentary because we thought that many people would have an opinion on the stereotypes which they are faced with and also the stereotypes which they place upon other people. The aim of our documentary however, is to show that on face value people can be completely wrong about the type of person that you are when they judge based on appearance and clothing.
